Auction rules

Plain language, no fine print hiding anywhere else. Read this before you bid.

The bid

Every bid is a payment made directly through checkout, not a pledge. It is final and non-refundable, whether you end up winning or not. You are paying for the current lead, not for a guarantee.

A bid is only accepted if it beats the current highest bid by at least $5. That minimum is enforced on our server, not just in your browser, so it can't be bypassed.

We collect a name or handle (shown publicly as the current leader) and an email (for your receipt and to reach you if you win).

The clock

The auction runs for 7 days from launch.

If a bid lands within the last 10 minutes of the countdown, the clock extends by 10 minutes from that bid's timestamp. This repeats for as long as bids keep landing inside that window, so the auction only ends once 10 minutes pass with no new bid.

Whoever is the highest bidder when the countdown reaches zero wins.

What the winner gets

Ownership of outdid.rest in full: the domain, this codebase, and this Vercel hosting project.

There is no existing traffic, following, or social account tied to outdid.rest beyond the site itself, so there is nothing else to disclose there.

How the domain actually transfers

outdid.rest was registered with Spaceship on August 27, 2026. ICANN requires a 60-day wait after registration before a domain can move to a different registrar. That date is October 26, 2026, which falls after this auction ends.

That lock does not block what actually happens at the end of this auction. Spaceship offers a separate Transfer ownership option (an account-to-account push within Spaceship, not a registrar change), which is unaffected by the 60-day rule:

  1. You create a free Spaceship account.
  2. We open Domain Manager → outdid.rest → Transfer → Transfer ownership.
  3. We enter your Spaceship account details and confirm.
  4. You get full control (DNS, WHOIS, renewal) the same day.

If you later want to move the domain to a different registrar entirely, that becomes possible on October 26, 2026. The GitHub repository and Vercel project transfer separately, outside of this restriction, as their own steps.
