Terms of service

outdid.rest is a single-item, time-boxed sale: ownership of outdid.rest itself (the domain, its codebase, and its hosting project). There is no leaderboard and nothing else for sale. It runs on a countdown; whoever holds the highest bid when it ends wins the transfer.

This is not a game of chance. The outcome is entirely determined by the amount bid, not by luck, so it is not gambling, a raffle, or a sweepstakes.

Every bid you place is charged immediately through checkout. It is final and non-refundable, regardless of whether you end up winning. You are paying to become the current leader at that moment, not buying a conditional right to the domain.

A bid must beat the current highest by at least $5, checked server-side at the time of checkout.

Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record. Dodo handles the charge, applicable tax, and your receipt. outdid.rest never sees or stores your full card details.

Because bids are clearly disclosed as final and non-refundable before you pay, filing a chargeback or payment dispute for a bid you placed (rather than for actual payment fraud on your account) is a breach of these terms. We reserve the right to exclude you from future bidding and to recover any amount charged back, including reasonable costs of doing so.

You must be able to form a legally binding contract where you live, and you're responsible for complying with any laws that apply to you when you bid. If you win, you'll need to hold or be able to create the accounts required to receive the transfer (a Spaceship account for the domain, a GitHub account for the repository, a Vercel account for the hosting project).

If you win, you get the domain, the codebase, and the Vercel hosting project, transferred per the timeline on the rules page. Everything transfers as-is: we make no promise about future traffic, search rankings, income, or uptime, and no promise that the code is fit for any particular purpose beyond what you can see in the repository yourself before bidding.

To the extent permitted by law, outdid.rest and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your bid, your win, or your use of whatever you receive. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount of your own winning bid, if any.

We may update these terms as the auction progresses (for example, to clarify the transfer process). Material changes will be reflected here with an updated effective date. Continuing to bid after a change means you accept the update.
